Funeral Lesson 1 I. Introduction A. Here for memory of deceased B. Information on deceased II. About the Deceased A. Positive information about the deceased III. Reflection upon Ourselves A. We are not the judge of the deceased, for there is but one Judge (James 4:12) 1. We can be assured that he is now in the hands of the merciful, loving, just, and righteous God, our Creator B. The death, however, gives us reason to consider ourselves, and our own condition 1. It is true as the Scripture says: our life is but a vapor, and we have no guarantee of tomorrow (James 4:14) 2. It is fated that we shall all meet our end, either by death or by the return of Christ Jesus, and we know not the precise time of either (Hebrews 9:27, 1 Thessalonians 5:2) 3. We must therefore live in such a way to be constantly prepared for our end (2 Peter 3:11-12) C. Are you prepared for your end? 1. To be prepared, you must be in Christ Jesus, striving to do His will 2. if you have not come to faith in Christ Jesus, you are currently in your sin (Romans 3:23), and God has established a terrible fate for those lost in their sins (Romans 6:23, 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9) 3. The blood of Christ, however, can cleanse you of all sin, and you can believe in Him, confess His name, repent of your sin, and be immersed in water for the remission of your sin, begin your walk with Christ, and no longer walk in the futility of your mind (Acts 16:31, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 4:17) 4. Or perhaps you once called upon Christ, but have not continued to strive to walk with Christ and be obedient to Him D. If you would like to study more about these things, or talk more about them, or come to faith in Christ Jesus today, please let me know after the service 1. Let us see good come from this tragedy 2. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family
