Brethren,

Greetings.

Peace, mercy, and grace be with you all from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The sun goes down a bit earlier, the wind has a greater chill, and all are preparing for the upcoming winter. The work, nonetheless, continues as ever.

Working with the Brethren

October has seen many social events involving the brethren, and the cooler weather has led to a greater level of attendance in the assemblies. We are working harder in trying to have brethren over more often.

We are pleased to announce that two children have been born in the congregation. The presence of little ones in the congregation is always a good sign of future potential!

Lessons and Classes

This month's lessons on Sunday morning were a bit more varied: we did continue looking into some passages, like 1 Samuel 8, but at other points we considered some other topics or themes: the need to work in the present, how Jesus communicates spiritual truths through the fruit-bearing tree. The evening lessons finished up the series on fundamentals, highlighting the means by which we are to interpret the Bible. The lessons, as always, are available in outline and mp3 form at norwalkchurch.org.

The Sunday morning young people's class has continued Wendell Winkler's Studying Sin Seriously; the students seem to appreciate the study. We have almost finished Romans in the Bible reading program.

The divided men's and women's classes continue to focus on parenting, using God's Plan for Parenting, edited by Kevin Maxey, as a guide for the class.

The Tuesday night Bible studies at our house have continued to focus on Scriptures to use when speaking with others about matters of the faith.

Evangelism

We have continued our already present evangelism initiatives. We again knocked on some doors, roughly around 50, on the first Saturday of the month, we have sent out the fourth week bulletin, and continued to maintain the website.

Texas Trip

From October 18-23, my family and I traveled to Cedar Park, Texas, to meet with the church there to update them on the work here in Norwalk. We had a most enjoyable time getting to know the brethren there, to have the opportunity to update them on the work we are doing here, and also the side trip to Sinton, Texas, where I had the pleasure of working in a preacher training program for three months in 2000. We are greatly indebted to the brethren, especially in Cedar Park, not only for their financial support, but also for their encouragement for us concerning the work here.

Volunteer Opportunity

A couple of months ago I learned that the local hospice service, Stein Hospice, was holding a series of classes on end-of-life issues and seek volunteers. A brother and I signed up for the classes, have completed them, and look forward to volunteering and having the opportunity to help those who are in need.

Current Studies

Unfortunately, current studies have not gone on as well as would have been desired this month. We hope to renew them in November.

Support

I would like to thank all of you for your participation in the work here in Norwalk, either through your prayers or through encouraging me or through financial support. I would like to solicit your continual prayers so that the work here may prosper.

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits.
