Brethren,

Greetings.

Peace, mercy, and grace be with you all from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Despite a recent trend of extremely nice weather, winter is barreling down upon us. The time is spent, however, in more reflection on spiritual things.

Working with the Brethren

The colder weather, or at least the prospect thereof, has led to a greater level of participation among the brethren. Our assemblies have seen an increase in numbers, particularly in the number of the local brethren, which has been encouraging. We have also had many opportunities to spend time with many of the brethren outside of the assemblies, which is always desirable.

Lessons and Classes

The lessons on Sunday morning have again been varied, focusing on topics as diverse as the election of Christians to how we are to live in yet not be of the world. The Sunday evening lessons have focused on popular beliefs of our day, investigating infant baptism, original sin, faith alone, and "once saved, always saved". The lessons, as always, are available in outline and mp3 form at norwalkchurch.org.

The Sunday morning young people's class has continued Wendell Winkler's Studying Sin Seriously; the students seem to appreciate the study. We are persevering with 1 Corinthians in the Bible reading program.

The divided men's and women's classes completed their focus on parenting. The elders will determine how we shall finish out the year.

The Tuesday night Bible studies at our house have continued to focus on Scriptures to use when speaking with others about matters of the faith.

Evangelism

We have continued our already present evangelism initiatives. Our door knocking day was very successful, with six persons participating and over eighty doors knocked. We continue to both send out the fourth week bulletin, and to maintain the website.

I am pleased to say that many of the brethren here have seen interest as they tell their friends and neighbors about the faith, and that is encouraging both to them and to me.

Current Studies

  1. Cindy. We have resumed the studies with Cindy and are now focusing on the Gospel of John.

  2. Ben and Katie. We have been glad to see Ben and Katie in the assembly more often. They have recently moved to a location closer to our building, and we hope to re-establish the study again very soon.

  3. Dawn. Dawn is a woman whom some of our members know and have striven to teach regarding the faith. She indicated a desire to be baptized, and on one Sunday evening after the assembly we spent some time talking with her about the church. Nothing has yet come of her desire to be baptized, and the members are still striving to work with her.

  4. Debbie. Recently we received a letter from the Jordan Park church in Huntsville, Alabama, regarding Debbie; she was taking a Bible correspondence course through their website and indicated a desire for more study. We contacted her and set up a meeting, and now we are going to begin a weekly study of the book of Acts, which we hope will lead to her conversion and association with us.
