Brethren,

Greetings.

Peace, mercy, and grace be with you all from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Spring has sprung! People are now out more, spending more time together, and even though it may be planting season for the soil, the spiritual fields are very white for harvest!

Working with the Brethren

Much has been done with the brethren this month: we spent good times with the brethren during the gospel meeting here, by visiting other area gospel meetings, and with other activities.

Lessons and Classes

Sunday morning lessons in April have been varied: we have discussed the example of Stephen, how the Jews responded to Jesus and how we respond to Him today, the difficulties of the Pharisees and how we can avoid them, and handling discouragement. Sunday evening lessons have continued a series on why Israel failed, looking at how Israel sinned and how we can avoid to fall into the same traps. The lessons, as always, are available in outline and mp3 form at norwalkchurch.org.

We have begun the class on the Gospel of Luke; we are going through a chapter per class, quickly summarizing the events and spending time talking about their significance and what we can learn from them. The class has been favorably received so far.

On April 30 we began the monthly study concept with a study on angels at the house of one of our members. There was some hope that we would have some non-member visitors to the study, but unfortunately those hopes never materialized. Regardless, the study was profitable for the members involved.

Evangelism

The main evangelistic efforts in April surrounded the gospel meeting that we enjoyed at the beginning of the month with Lewis Willis. I am pleased to report that the members strongly supported this meeting, and we also enjoyed the presence of many visitors from other local congregations. We were greatly encouraged to see approximately five visitors from the community also.

We are continuing our other programs also: the website, mailing out the fourth week bulletin, and tracts. We continue to work toward establishing a Bible correspondence course program also.

Current Studies

  1. Cindy. Since Cindy has begun to work as an assistant for one of the children's classes, our studies now focus on the Gospel of Luke.

  2. Ben and Katie. While Katie's attendance has improved greatly, various reasons have conspired to hinder us from getting together to study. We hope to study more in the future.

  3. Debbie. Debbie has been working a lot and also continues to be concerned for her parents. We hope to keep working with her.

  4. Andrew. While most of Andrew's questions are being addressed in a young person's Bible class in the assemblies, we still talk and I am available to answer whatever questions he continues to have.

Visitors

Thanks to the good work of the members we again are seeing many consistent visitors. Some of these visitors have come for some time; some have begun coming more recently. We are working with the visitors in whatever ways that we can to help them with their spiritual needs.

We have also recently seen some visitors who are coming because of the recommendation of a family member who visited with us last spring. I believe that this is a testament to the warmth and community present within the church here in Norwalk.

Support

I would like to thank all of you for your participation in the work here in Norwalk, either through your prayers or through encouraging me or through financial support. I would like to solicit your continual prayers so that the work here may prosper.

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits.
