Brethren,
Greetings.
Peace, mercy, and grace be with you all from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The weather is getting crisp, and people are beginning to settle in for the fall and winter seasons. Our work continues.
Working with the Brethren
We have tried to increase our time with the brethren here, and we were rather successful. More needs to be done in this regard, but there is also a need for more of the brethren to desire to spend time with their fellow Christians.
Lessons and Classes
This month's morning lessons in Norwalk were varied, speaking regarding the limits of association, along with spiritual lessons from Jonah and the battle of Marathon. In the evening we have continued a series on the churches of the New Testament and what we can learn from their trials, successes, and failures. The lessons, as always, are available in outline and mp3 form at norwalkchurch.org.
I was also fortunate this month to have the opportunity to participate in gospel meetings for the Cemetery Road church in Hilliard and the church in Medina.
The class on denominations has pressed on into its second quarter; we are persevering through some difficult material.
The monthly study restarted this month, focusing on men's and women's roles in the church. It was a good and profitable study for all involved.
Evangelism
Based on many factors, we were not able to knock on doors this month, but intend to in November.
Although we have not strongly promoted the Bible Correspondence Course in the community just yet, we have received many requests through our website. We have used the opportunity presented to test our system of handling the courses so as to make sure that everything will run smoothly. We hope to begin promoting the course in the community before the end of the year.
Current Studies
1. Joel and Christian. We contacted Joel and Christian again, and since it is difficult for us all to get together, we agreed that it would be best for them to start with the Bible Correspondence course that they can do at their leisure.
2. Ben and Katie. The family has gone through many employment transitions recently, but we have a study with Katie scheduled for early November, and we hope that it will lead to more consistent studies.
3. Cindy. Since Cindy has been with us for over a year and a half and has grown significantly in that time period, we have mutually agreed to suspend personal studies with her. If there are questions or concerns, we will certainly address them, but otherwise all is well right now.
New Members
We are pleased that the Boyce family has decided to identify themselves as part of the church here in Norwalk. They have lived in Norwalk for some time, but worked with the church in Clyde, Ohio. That church recently decided to close its doors and fold, and thus the Boyces have come here. We are glad to have such people as part of our congregation in Norwalk.
Support
I would like to thank all of you for your participation in the work here in Norwalk, either through your prayers or through encouraging me or through financial support. I would like to solicit your continual prayers so that the work here may prosper.
May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits.
