Brethren,
Greetings.
Peace, mercy, and grace be with you all from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Cold weather is upon us, along with the holiday season. We hope all is well with you and yours.
Working with the Brethren
As people have settled in for the winter, association has increased among the brethren. We have enjoyed many opportunities spending time with each other, and hope to continue to do so as the season progresses.
Lessons and Classes
This month's morning lessons in Norwalk were again varied; we spoke concerning elders, encouragement, and idolatry. In the evening we have concluded a series on the churches of the New Testament and what we can learn from their trials, successes, and failures. The lessons, as always, are available in outline and mp3 form at norwalkchurch.org.
The adult class' study of denominations has almost finished the material on denominations per se, and we will spend the month of December speaking about various movements within modern "Christendom". Over the past month, we have had renewed participation and interest on the basis of the "newer" groups studied.
Our monthly study focused on end-of-life issues and was very well attended.
Evangelism
We knocked 200 doors in November and hope to knock a similar number in December. We were encouraged by two responses to our door-knocking efforts: one involved a woman in some financial need; unfortunately, since her need was met a few weeks ago by some of the individuals in the congregation, we have not heard from her. The second contact, however, was more interested in getting herself right with God, and we have successfully begun studies with her; she has visited our assemblies twice. We are encouraged by the fruit that God is bearing in this work, and we hope to continue to reach the community as best as we can.
Current Studies
1. Ben and Katie. We're still working to get together with Katie.
2. Brittany. Brittany is the young woman who contacted us on account of our door-knocking efforts. She is reading through Luke and attending evening assemblies, and we hope to continue to encourage her in these efforts.
Eldership
We are pleased to announce that the church in Norwalk, Ohio, has added a third elder to the eldership, Henry Beiro. We are blessed to have three capable men serving as elders, and we look forward to working together to encourage the brethren here and to further grow the Kingdom here in Norwalk.
Departures
We are saddened to report that two of our members, Phil and Brenda Grant, have elected to assemble with the church in Bellevue, Ohio. We wish the best for them.
Support
I would like to thank all of you for your participation in the work here in Norwalk, either through your prayers or through encouraging me or through financial support. I would like to solicit your continual prayers so that the work here may prosper.
May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits.
