Greetings.
My name is Ethan Longhenry. I am currently 26 years old, originally from Rockford, Illinois, and now in Norwalk, Ohio. I am 5'10, weigh around 160 pounds, and I have brown hair and eyes.
My internet handle is Deus Vitae, which means "God of Life" in Latin. I do not really think I am the God of Life; I was 15, on AOL, and I wanted to be different, and this was pretty much the only name I could think of which did not include numbers and was under 10 characters. I keep it since that is how people know me.
About my Beloved
I am happily married to my wonderful wife, Sarah. She is very beautiful. We have been together since July 28, 1998, and we were married on December 28, 2000. Her nickname is Curlie, since her hair is very curly (and pretty, if I may add :)). She is very special to me, and I love her very much. She has persevered with me through good times and bad, through many transitions and changes, and undoubtedly many more shall come, and I do deeply appreciate her.
About our children
On 19 June 2003 of the Common Era, Julianna Rose graced our lives. She is growing and developing well, and has now reached the preschool age.
On 17 May 2005 of the Common Era, Maia Katherine doubled the grace in our lives. Although a bit small, she is always very active and engaging, and very much a toddler.
On 19 September 2007 of the Common Era, Nathaniel John brought in some much needed masculinity into our family.
About our cats
Not long after Sarah and I were married I began to desire to have a cat around the house. I have always grown up with cats; my parents have had many around me, and I have always appreciated their company. In February of 2001 we picked up Gabriel from the Champaign County Humane Society; he was born around 28 December 1998 CE and he acclimated himself well with us. Not long after this another orange tabby, this time a female, wandered up to my doorstep hungry and pregnant. I took her down to the Champaign County Humane Society and after three months of rehabilitation Madeleine also entered our household. She was born around 30 May 1999 CE and despite some quirks in personality has been a very nice cat.
My Faith
I am a Christian, a member of the Church of Christ, and have been since March 14, 1999. My wife Sarah introduced me to Christ, and for that I am eternally grateful. You can learn more about my faith at my faith page devoted entirely to it. I have decided to become a preacher and previously worked with the Borden Street Church of Christ in Sinton, Texas, and the Tenth Street Church of Christ in Rockford, Illinois. I was a member of the church in Rantoul, Illinois, and the church in Rochelle, Illinois. I now work as the evangelist for the church in Norwalk, Ohio.
My current activities
As I have said above, I am now fortunate enough to make a full-time living on preaching the Gospel with the church of Christ in Norwalk, Ohio.
My Past
My parents are John and Carol. They are both teachers at Auburn High School in Rockford, Illinois; my father teaches history and my mother English for the Gifted Program there. I went to elementary school at P.R. Walker Elementary in Rockford, and for middle and high school I attended Keith Country Day School, also in Rockford. I went to the University of Chicago for a year, before deciding to change careers and pursue preaching. I lived for a year and a half in Rantoul, Illinois, while my wife attended the University of Illinois and I worked. For three and a half years, we returned to Rockford, Illinois, where I worked various jobs and worked on my bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Hebrew and Semitic Studies and Classics, from where I graduated in the fall of 2005.
My Interests
I find myself enjoying many matters surrounding my faith: Biblical studies, Biblical language, Biblical translation, Old and New Testament textual criticism, apologetics, and ancient Near Eastern and Classical history.
I also enjoy socializing, spending time with my family, fishing, playing around on the Internet, and reading copiously.
I also enjoy different forms of entertainment. I do not watch much television, but I do enjoy movies, especially anything by Monty Python, Mel Brooks, and other comedies. I end up listening to a lot of the classic rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, alternative from my own high school days, along with classical and swing. I cannot stand country or hip-hop, because of the twang and the lack of real music, respectively. When I get desperate for entertainment, I still play on my old Game Boy.
Now you know more about me than you probably ever needed to know.
